A New Direction, a New Beginning

At the end of my employment, after some + 32 years in the nuclear industry, including a secondment to the dockyard at Devonport, I set up my own company. Devonport wished to retain me working until the project was completed. I was given a couple of options, one of which was to form my own company. This was the direction that I took, and I formed New Direction Maritime.

This company kept me employed. I initially worked at the dockyard and subsequently as a free agent, providing management support services to offices and plants across the country.

The company kept me busy during my last two years at Devonport. And subsequently at various locations around the UK, from Dorchester in the south to Caithness in the north Highland area of Scotland. My work areas covered auditing, systems management advice and other related support services.  I tied in with another group of engineers who had recently left their parent company and thoroughly enjoyed our work together.

At the same time, I started another company devoted to writing about rigid-hull inflatable boats and my adventures. You can follow this story at the link hotRIBS.

In 2016, I closed New Direction and concentrated on my hotRIBS activities.
